Many students struggle in Honors Geometry due to a lack of preparation and organization. After nineteen years of tutoring in Highland Park, and with all three of my children completing the HP Geometry course, I developed a prep class specifically designed to better prepare students for this challenge.
Created 14 years ago, this course focuses on reinforcing essential concepts and building a strong foundation in geometry. It not only equips students with the skills they’ll need for the upcoming year, but also helps boost their confidence. From my experience, a solid algebra grade does not always guarantee success in geometry, as the approach and thinking can be quite different.
Honors Geometry is often one of the most commonly level down courses at HP. With the right preparation early on, we can shift that outcome for many students. For some, this may be the first math course that truly requires consistent daily study. The pace and expectations can feel overwhelming, especially without the right support. My goal is to provide students with the strategies, tools, and structure they need to understand the material, stay on top of assignments, and feel more confident from day one.
The H/T Geometry Prep Class focus:
Review of key concepts such as factoring (no, it did not end in the algebra),
radicals, formulas, Pythagorean Theorem, exponents, etc.
Formula Review
A 3-ring binder with important notes for each unit
Introduce new vocabulary and solidify previous terms
Cost is $180 (includes all supplies)
2-day Prep creates a stable foundation by learning & practicing crucial concepts to secure the needed prereq Geometry skills
