8th Grade Summer Reading Workshop

Students will learn and practice skills in their summer reading books that will be applicable to the first assignments of the school year, as well as in novel studies throughout the year.  Sessions will be set up in reading workshop format, in which the teacher provides instruction and modeling of the skill and strategy and then the students have time to read and practice the strategy on their own.  During independent reading time, students will confer one-on-one with the instructor to assess learning and mastery of skills.  Each day will complete two rounds of the workshop, for a total of six skills/strategies throughout the week.
