Service Description

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas is generally considered a more demanding read for many 8th grade students because of its length, older writing style, scientific detail, and slower pacing compared to modern novels. The challenge of the book is not simply the number of pages, but the dense descriptive passages and advanced vocabulary that can naturally slow reading pace and comprehension for middle school readers. This guided reading group is especially beneficial for students who may struggle to complete lengthy summer reading assignments independently or who benefit from structure, pacing, accountability, and guided discussion throughout the process. Students will have opportunities to ask questions, strengthen comprehension, discuss important themes, and work through more difficult sections of the novel together. Please note that there will be daily outside reading assignments between sessions in order to maintain pacing and keep the group progressing together through the novel.
